Abstract

Radiance matrix-based methods enable efficientparametric simulations, allowing users to vary skyconditions, fenestration systems, and other modelparameters at a minimal cost to computation. However,the steep learning curve and complex workflow hinderthe widespread adoption of matrix-based methods. Thefrads Python library with a series of command-line toolswas developed to automate the entire matrix-basedsimulation process, lowering entry barriers and reducinghuman error. Co-simulation between EnergyPlus andRadiance was also enabled using the Python library fromEnergyPlus.
